Course Overview
A Bachelor in Pharmacy (BPharm) is an undergraduate academic degree program that prepares students for a career in the field of pharmacy. The program typically takes four years to complete and focuses on teaching students the scientific and practical aspects of pharmacy. Students in this program will learn about topics such as drug composition and action, medication dispensing and administration, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical technology. A Bachelor in Pharmacy degree is required for individuals who wish to become a licensed pharmacist and practice pharmacy professionally. Graduates of this program can go on to work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions.
Duration of the Course
04 years + training of 150 hours spread over four weeks in a Pharmaceutical Industry / Hospital.
Eligibility
Candidates who have passed two years P.U.C. or (10+2) an equivalent examination of any other approved Board of universities with just pass marks in combination comprising P.C.B. or P.C.M. A pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.
- Intermediate examination in Science;
- The first year of the three year degree course in Science,
- 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science;
- Predegree examination
- Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination
- Medium of Instruction English value that is essential to the practice of the profession in real life contexts. The students are expected to are expected to attain the professional competencies such as Review Prescriptions, Dispense Prescription / Non-Prescription Medicines, Provide Patient Counselling / Education, Hospital and Community Pharmacy Management, Expertise on Medications, Proficiency on drugs / pharmaceuticals, Entrepreneurship and Leadership
Course Objectives
The Students are expected to obtain strong fundamental concepts and high technical competence in pharmaceutical sciences and technology. The students are provided with a strong and well defined concepts in the various fields of pharmaceutical sciences viz., Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice according to the requirement of pharmaceutical industries, community and hospital pharmacy. They should develop a sense of teamwork and awareness amongst themselves towards the importance of interdisciplinary approach for developing competence in solving complex problems in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
